Microsoft has a lot to answer for, with the XBOX One DRM, the Windows 8 fiasco, and giving information to the NSA.

I'd be sorry if I did something that lost sales too.

Having consistently led in the US for a couple years, Microsoft fell victim to the third console curse. Unlike Sega, Nintendo, and Sony, however, at least they are making an effort to make it right.
Now I know there's a reason you shouldn't blame others when you do something wrong, and that reason is: you might get caught and have to apologize to a bunch of dumb peasants.

Screwing up and apologizing is becoming a marketing tactic, of late.
I muttered 'light as a board, stiff as a feather' for 2 days straight and now I've ascended, ;aughing at olympus and zeus is crying

Pretty much. Anyone with an amount of brains can see this for the PR-speak it really is and read the proper message: "Clearly, you are smart. We're glad you're smart. Now please buy an Xbox One. Pretty please?"
